Purpose of Assessment / Examination:
- As with the Finnish model, assessments are designed to support the overall development of students, focusing on their learning journey rather than just outcomes.
- Doctors School uses a combination of formative and summative assessments to monitor student progress, including quizzes, class tests, project work, oral presentations, and practical tasks.
- Assessment is integrated into daily learning, providing insights into each student’s strengths and areas for improvement.
- The focus is on fostering critical thinking, independence, and problem-solving skills, while promoting self-reflection and self-directed learning.
- Regular feedback is provided, and students are encouraged to take ownership of their learning. Parents are actively involved in the process through reports and periodic Parent-Teacher Meetings (PTMs).
Assessment / Examination Results:
- • Students' progress is assessed continually through a variety of methods, not just traditional exams.
- • Results from quizzes, mid-terms, end-of-term assessments, projects, and final exams are compiled into a comprehensive progress report.
- • The top performers are acknowledged, but the emphasis remains on personal growth rather than competition.
- • Results are shared with parents during PTMs, in line with the Finnish emphasis on collaboration between the school and home, to support the student’s ongoing development.
